What to Expect:
Your First Visit
Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time and allow 50 minutes for all appointments. All treatments are done in a private room with a massage table and relaxing music. A sheet will be provided for your comfort, but you may also choose to bring a pair of gym shorts and tank top if you prefer to stay clothed.
In the Acupuncture appointment, a complete health history is taken and several diagnostic tools such as tongue and pulse diagnosis are used. Prior to receiving the Acupuncture, a few areas of your skin are cleaned with alcohol. The Acupuncture is done to those areas and you will be left to relax for 10-20 minutes. After the Acupuncture we may do some Massage or prescribe a specific herbal formula for you.
Follow Up Appointments
Typically, appointments are scheduled once a week. When your condition improves you can schedule appointments as needed. Between visits you may be asked to keep a “Food Diary” in which you track all that you eat each day and the status of your symptoms.
Does Acupuncture Hurt?
The sensations people report range from “dull & heavy,” “tingling & warm,” to “euphoric & relaxing.” Sometimes the perceived changes are not felt until hours or days after the treatment.
How Often Do I Need To See My Practitioner?
Initially, with Acupuncture, once a week is ideal. After you have reached a level of maintenance, we will begin to meet twice a month and then once a month, until cure is achieved.
Will Insurance Cover The Fee?
After receiving payment we will issue you an “insurance friendly” receipt. You can summit that to your specific carrier and, depending on your policy, you may be reimbursed.
